What is a rateable value?
Rateable Values are used to charge customers who do not have a meter.
In England, the Valuation Office Agency assigns the rateable value to non-households, based on the rental value of the property. Find out how properties in England are valued here.
In Scotland the Scottish Assessors Association (SAA) determine rateable values of properties. These values are used to calculate unmeasured water and wastewater charges, as well as surface water and highways drainage charges. You can find out more about the Scottish system here
